Eight years ago, I was right where you are.
I was driving home from work thinking surely this can’t be it. I was tired of the politics. I was tired of being told I was doing too much because I had high standards and expectations. I was tired of playing small to fit into others’ boxes. I was tired of running from what I was meant to do. I knew I needed to stop looking to other people to create the work life I wanted.
So in 2013, I started my own business as a way of charting my own course. Without a guide or knowing what I was doing, I downloaded all of the PDFs, listened to all of the podcasts, and fumbled through through the process, often feeling overwhelmed, questioning myself and my process every step of the way.
Even though I’d been an administrator, had set a vision for, created and facilitated PD sessions, and set budgets, I didn’t know a thing about creating a business.
My entrepreneurial journey took longer and was harder because I was doing it alone. I didn’t have a mentor or a coach. But I made it, and what I’ve gained in the process is a freedom and fulfillment that is unmatched.
